Epilogue

It does occasionally happen that Iouri Podladtchikov does not post pictures of women on his blog, but rather of himself. In one of them he is topless, pointing a gun at his head. In another he is photographed from the shoulders up, suited and booted, staring intently at the camera. And sometimes he imparts the wisdom of the great thinkers who are important to him.

For example: “It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things” – Leonardo da Vinci.

Or this quotation by Henri Matisse: “What I dream of is an art of balance, of purity and serenity, devoid of troubling or depressing subject matter, an art which could be for every mental worker, for the businessman as well as the man of letters, for example, a soothing, calming influence on the mind, something like a good armchair which provides relaxation from physical fatigue.”

However, what you won’t find on his blog are pictures of him snowboarding. There are other sites and forums for this chapter of his story. There are other times. 11 February 2014 at 9:30 p.m. in Sochi, is one such example.
